Acupuncture, Laser & Point Injection Therapy
Acupuncture is the use of thread-fine surgical steel needles or targeted laser beams focused at specific points on your body to remove blockages in the energetic system that regulates your health. These acu-points are specific sites along the meridians that have a regulatory mechanism on the Qi of the whole meridian and associated organs. Acupuncture is virtually painless and Laser Therapy is completely pain free. Both modalities are perfectly safe when performed by an expert under strict clinical conditions. Acupuncture in any form works as a regulatory modality and is a powerful tool that can bring every type of disharmony and disease back into equilibrium.
Acupuncture is endorsed by the World Health Organization, the National Institute of Health and the Food and Drug Administration. More important than those endorsements though, is the fact that millions of people have consistently used acupuncture for thousands of years. Their meticulous records present us with a body of clinical knowledge that is unmatched by an other medicine. The research on acupuncture continues today and incorporates strict scientific methods that continue to prove the worth of this powerful modality.
Other modalities that fall under the general heading of acupuncture, along with Laser Therapy, are Moxabustion and Cupping.
Some people are not comfortable with the idea of needle insertion, so we also offer Laser and other therapies which uses either electrical or manual devices to stimulate acupuncture points without the need for needle insertion. Laser Therapy is every bit as effective as acupuncture when performed by an expert practitioner
Moxabustion is the use of an herb called Aie Ye (artemisia vulgarus or mugwort), to warm and heat the meridians of the body. Disease often arises from cold which stagnates the Qi in the meridians and Moxa can be rolled into a cylinder that resembles a cigar, ignited so that it smolders and held very close to the skin at specific acu-points to warm the Qi in the meridians. This type of therapy is particularly useful on arthritic conditions and sports injuries.
Cupping is the use of jars or cups that have had the air drawn out of them in order to create a vacuum on the surface of the skin. The suction pulls the superficial layers of the skin and fascia apart or pulls adhesions between muscle tissue apart. This allows the synovial fluid to seep back between the tissues and relieves pain from adhesion that is associated with sprains and strains of muscle tissue.
Acupuncture, Laser Therapy, Moxabustion and Cupping can be used together or separately to painlessly regulate your bioenergy and bring you back to a more perfect state of balance and health.
Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy
Developed in China in the early 1950’s APIT is the injection of sterile biological substances into specific acupuncture points for the regulation of Yin, Yang, Qi and Blood.
Acupuncture and its adjunct therapies are all regulatory in nature but APIT allows Doctors to tonify and augment acupuncture points, channels and the organ systems and tissues governed by those channels and points.
Prior to the introduction of APIT, the only way to supplement and actually add any substance to the channel system was with electrical or laser stimulation of the acupuncture points. The use of electro and laser stimulation moderately increases the Yang Qi, metabolic aspects, of the system but not Yin Qi, blood or essence, the material aspects of the system. Otherwise, to introduce Yin, Qi, blood and essence into the system, Doctors needed to prescribe orally administered herbal medications and biological supplements to augment the organ systems via the digestive process.
APIT is not intravenous (IV) therapy and the sterile biological substances are never injected directly into the vascular system. APIT stands apart from all other types of injection therapy because of its reliance on the use of acupuncture points. The inclusion of specific acupuncture points for injection provides multidimensional therapeutic dynamics because stimulation of the points themselves are already responsible for a myriad of local and systemic therapeutic results. The combination of the point stimulation and the appropriately prescribed sterile biological substances greatly enhance the healing effect.
The Hypodermic needles used for APIT are 27-30 gauge (about the same gauge as a regular acupuncture needle). The sterile biological substances used in APIT include but are not limited to glucose solutions, sterile saline, vitamins such as B-12, C and D-3, enzymatic substances, various single Chinese herbs and Homeopathic remedies such as Arnica and Traumeel.
APIT can be performed as a stand-alone therapy such as a weekly or monthly injection of vitamin B-12 or in conjunction with other acupuncture modalities such as acupuncture, gua sha, cupping or moxa therapy. Because of the very powerful effect of APIT it is typical to inject only one to four sites per session depending on the sterile biological substance being used. When using saline or most homeopathic substances the four injections can be performed more frequently up to several times per week on different acupuncture points.
APIT regulates the immune, cardiovascular, endocrine and nervous system and can potentially treat chronic pain and inflammation, auto immune disorders, chronic fatigue conditions, chronic and latent viral diseases, colds and flu, sports injuries and most importantly perhaps, APIT assists the holistic rejuvenation and regeneration of mind and body.
Whether a person is suffering from seasonal colds & flu, a chronic health condition, is a wounded weekend warrior or just wants to live forever, Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy is a potent modality in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
